A man from Bengaluru was allegedly kidnapped by three men over a mistaken identity and was released later after realisation. The dramatic incident occurred near Nagarahole Circle in the Byadarahalli area.
The victim has been identified as Sharath and was abducted in broad daylight while he was having tea with a friend at a roadside stall.
According to the police, the accused individuals were looking for an individual named Nata. However, they had confused Sharath with Nata. The three grabbed Sharath and pulled him into an autorickshaw to flee.
Sharath continued to convince the kidnappers that they were making a mistake by taking him. However, the accused did not believe him initially.
They realised the wrongful act after going through the victim's phone. Left with no other option, the three kidnappers released him midway and ran from the scene.
Following this, a complaint was lodged at the Byadarahalli Police Station, and an FIR has been registered, and police have launched a search operation to trace the accused.
The incident has raised concerns over safety in the area and created panic among local residents.

In a separate case, a few individuals were booked in connection with the suspected attempt to kidnap the son of the media advisor to Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister, near Mashobra, about 11 kilometres away from Shimla.
According to reports, the incident occurred on March 20, when Aryan Chauhan, who is also the general secretary of Himachal Pradesh Youth Congress, was going to Shimla from his hotel in Mashobra.
In another case, a five-year-old boy was allegedly abducted from outside his house in a village in Prayagraj, police said on Sunday.The incident occurred on Saturday in Sarai Kalan village when the child had just returned home from school, they said.
