Bengaluru Metro Update: Metro services on Bengaluru’s new Yellow Line were affected on Monday morning after a group of passengers stopped the first train from leaving RV Road station. The commuters asked the Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) to start services at 5 AM, the same timing followed on the Green and Purple Lines.
BMRCL said the incident took place around 6 AM on November 17, when the first train was preparing to leave. A few passengers moved close to the platform edge and kept the doors from closing. Because of this obstruction, the train could begin its journey only at 6.35 AM.
The delay pushed back the timing of several services on the route. To bring the schedule back on track, Metro staff had to short-loop one train at Central Silk Board so that the rest of the operations could be balanced.
Officials warned that such actions can create safety risks and trouble thousands of people who depend on the metro every day. The corporation referred to the Metro Railway (Operation and Maintenance) Act, 2002, which allows imprisonment or fines for anyone who blocks train movement. A police complaint has been filed for further action.
The demand for an earlier start follows a recent change in the Yellow Line’s schedule. On November 1, BMRCL advanced the first service from 6.30 AM to 6 AM after adding a fifth trainset. The Metro operator has also improved peak-hour frequency, reducing headways from 19 minutes to 15 minutes. More changes are expected as additional trains join the fleet.

At present, the Yellow Line is using all available trains during the morning rush, leaving no spare set. BMRCL said this is a temporary step to meet the rising number of passengers.
The corporation urged commuters to avoid activities that interrupt services and said it remains committed to “safe, reliable and efficient operations” while continuing to welcome feedback from the public.
