Bengaluru Namma Metro Update: The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) on Wednesday informed that all six coaches of the sixth trainset for the Yellow Line have arrived in the city. While providing details, the authority stated that while three coaches had arrived in the city by the weekend, the rest of the coaches also arrived on Tuesday. An additional trainset on the Yellow Line will provide significant relief to thousands of commuters by reducing the waiting period, especially during office hours. The officials stated that the sixth trainset will be available for the commuters from the third week of December after the mandatory trials.
Earlier in November, the authority stated that the additional train will improve the frequency and will reduce the waiting time to 12 minutes. Apart from this, the train services on the Yellow Line are also likely to start at 5 am once the sixth trainset is operational. While the operation of the Yellow Line provided relief to the commuters by reducing the travel time, the extra waiting time was a concern for them. The authority has also stated that several expansion plans will also be announced in the upcoming months to boost the regional connectivity.

The BMRCL emphasised that the trial works will be conducted at night, adding that the trainset will be available for the commuters by the third or fourth week of December. In separate news, the BMRCL assured that the metro network will be expanded significantly in the upcoming years. While speaking at an event, BMRCL Managing Director J Ravishankar stated that the metro network will expand from 96 km to 175 km by the end of 2027, adding that the Namma metro will operate on 225 km by 2030.
“Namma Metro started in 2011 with a network of just 6.7 km. With Yellow Line (RV Road - Bommasandra) inaugurated in August 2025, we now operate 96 km. Next year, Pink Line (Kalena Agrahara - Nagawara), 7.5 km elevated and 13.5 km underground-about 21 km-will become operational,” Ravishankar was quoted as saying by Moneycontrol.
