Bengaluru: A mother accused the principal of a private school in Sunkadakatte, Karnataka of assaulting her nine-year-old son with a PVC pipe. She further claims that the school's owner watched the attack unfold without intervening.
Divya Shankar, 30, who lives in Hoysalanagar, filed a police report detailing the assault on October 14. Her son, Nayan Gowda C S, a Class 5 student at St. Mary’s Public School on Pipeline Road, was allegedly beaten between 4 pm and 5 pm inside the school premises. According to the complaint, the school principal, Rakesh Kumar, used a PVC pipe to strike Nayan, leaving him injured and bleeding. When the child attempted to escape, a teacher named Chandrika reportedly restrained him, allowing the assault to continue.
Divya’s complaint also states that the school owner, Vijayakumar, was present during the incident but did not intervene. Instead, she alleges, he simply watched as the violence occurred. “He just stood there,” Divya said, describing her son’s terrifying experience.
The aftermath of the assault has left the child physically hurt and emotionally traumatized, according to Divya. When she sought answers from the school authorities, she claims she was told not to “ask too many questions.”
Moreover, she was allegedly threatened with retaliation if she spoke out and was pressured to take her son's transfer certificate (T.C.) and leave the school.
In light of the incident, Divya has requested police protection for her family and called for strict action against Principal Rakesh Kumar, the teacher, and the school owner, Vijayakumar. The authorities have confirmed that a case has been filed, and an investigation is underway. Officials have also stated that the child will undergo a medical examination to assess his injuries, and CCTV footage from the school is being reviewed to aid in the investigation.
