Bengaluru: The Namma Metro Yellow Line is expected to begin operations by June 2025. The metro route, starting from Rashtreeya Vidyalaya (R.V.) Road to Bommasandra, aims to provide much-needed relief to commuters struggling with Bengaluru’s heavy traffic.

Full-scale services have yet to commence, authorities plan to initially open seven stations, including both terminal points. In the early phase, only three train sets will be in operation, running at 30-minute intervals due to a limited number of driverless trains. The third train set arrived at the Hebbagodi depot on May 13, with trial runs scheduled to begin soon, according to a report by Times Property.

Officials from Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) have confirmed that full operations across all 16 stations are expected by August or September 2025, pending the arrival of additional train sets and required safety approvals.

All About Bengaluru Yellow Line Namma Metro 

The Yellow Line is a vital component of Phase 2 of the Namma Metro project. Spanning approximately 18.82 kilometres, it connects R.V. Road in the south to Bommasandra in the east. This corridor links key residential neighborhoods, tech hubs, and industrial zones, making it a significant advancement for Bengaluru’s public transportation network.

With traffic congestion a daily challenge for Bengaluru residents, the Yellow Line is expected to reduce commute times, decrease reliance on private vehicles, and support the city’s transition toward sustainable, eco-friendly mobility.

Bengaluru Yellow Line Namma Metro: Route And Stations

The Yellow Line features a fully elevated track with 16 stations designed to serve high-traffic areas and enhance accessibility across Bengaluru. Key stations include:

R.V. Road – Connects with the Green Line

Jayadeva Hospital – Provides vital access to the hospital

B.T.M. Layout – Serves a densely populated neighborhood

Silk Board – Alleviates congestion at a notorious traffic hotspot

H.S.R. Layout – Supports a major IT and residential area

Oxford College – Convenient for students and staff

Electronic City Phase 1 – Crucial for tech professionals

Bommasandra – Terminal station serving industrial and residential commuters

Other stations, Muneshwara Nagar, Central Silk Board, Bommanahalli, Hongasandra, Kudlu Gate, Singasandra, Basapura, and Hosa Road, have been strategically chosen to serve busy and growing localities.

Bengaluru Yellow Line Namma Metro: Timings 

Once operational, the Yellow Line will run daily from 5:00 AM to 11:00 PM. During peak hours, trains will arrive every 10 minutes, while off-peak intervals will extend to 15 minutes. These timings are designed to provide flexible travel options for early morning workers, students, and late-night commuters alike.

Bengaluru Yellow Line Namma Metro: Ticket Price 

Fares on the Yellow Line will range from Rs 15 to Rs 85, based on the distance traveled. Commuters will have the option to use smart cards, QR code-based tickets, or traditional paper tickets. Additionally, digital payment methods will be available to provide a seamless and cashless travel experience.
