Bengaluru:  In a major update, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the Bengaluru Namma Metro’s long-awaited Yellow Line on August 10, days ahead of the scheduled deadline on August 15. Once inaugurated, the Namma Metro Yellow Line, which links RV Road in South Bengaluru to Bommasandra in the city’s southeastern industrial belt, will benefit lakhs of commuters and reduce traffic pressure on the roads.

BJP MP Tejasvi Surya took to X (formerly Twitter) to announce the inauguration date of the Yellow Line in Bengaluru. “PM Sri @narendramodi Ji will inaugurate the important Yellow Line metro on August 10. On behalf of all people of Bengaluru, I thank the PM for always prioritising the infrastructure development of our city,” Surya wrote on X.

Surya, who also serves as the national president of the BJYM, quoted Union Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal Khattar’s post on X as saying, “I am pleased to announce that the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India has kindly agreed to inaugurate the 19.15 km Yellow Line from RV Road to Bommasandra of Bengaluru Metro with 16 stations at a cost of Rs 5,056.99 crore and lay the foundation stone for 44.65 km of Bangalore Phase-3 at a cost of ₹15,611 crore on August 10, 2025.”

He further credited the timely launch of Namma Metro Yellow Line to PM Modi, saying that the latter prioritised infrastructure development in Bengaluru. MP Surya has constantly pushed for the timely launch of the Yellow Line. In July, he marched from Lalbagh Main Gate to the BMRCL Head Office in Shantinagar to highlight the delay in the inauguration of the Yellow Line.
