Bengaluru-Tumakuru Highway Accident: Six People feared dead, including two children in a road accident near Nelamangala on the outskirts of Bengaluru. The incident occurred around 11 AM on Saturday when a container truck overturned, crushing a car and a two-wheeler on the Bengaluru national highway.

According to a Mathrubhumi report, the deceased have been identified as Chandram Yogappa (48), a businessman from Vijayapura, Gaurabhai (42), Vijayalakshmi (36) and three children: Gan (16), Deeksha (12) and Arya (6). The accident happened near Talekere while the container lorry was travelling from Bengaluru to Tumakuru.

Bengaluru Rural Superintendent of Police, CK Baba, stated that the container lorry collided with another truck before overturning on top of the car. Both trucks were moving in the same direction when the collision occurred. The impact of the crash resulted in the SUV being crushed beneath the container lorry, leading to the immediate deaths of all six occupants in the car.

Emergency responders used cranes and other equipment to remove the container from the vehicle and the bodies were transported to the Neelamangala Government Hospital for examination.

The accident caused significant disruptions on National Highway 48, resulting in a traffic jam stretching approximately 3 km. Following the incident, the Bengaluru District Police issued a traffic advisory warning of slow-moving traffic on the Bengaluru-Tumakuru national highway.

"Slow-moving traffic on Bengaluru-Tumkur national highway due to vehicle accidents between container and car near Beguru in Nelamangala. Kindly cooperate," the police stated in a post on X.

Witnesses reported that local residents and commuters rushed to assist the victims in the aftermath of the accident. The family of the businessman was reportedly heading out of the city for a weekend trip when the tragic event occurred.
