Bengaluru News: Bengaluru police have registered an FIR against Congress leader B Gurappa Naidu for allegedly sexually harassing a former teacher of his school. Naidu is a General Secretary of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) and Chairman of BGS Bloom Field School in Thyagaraja Nagar. The complainant said that she worked at his school from March 2021 to August 2023 and alleged that Naidu repeatedly tried to molest her and also verbally abused her when she agitated.
The 38-year-old woman also accused Naidu of recording some explicit videos and using them to threaten and intimidate her. The Channammanakere Achukattu police station registered a case on November 26 and began its investigation against the Congress leader under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The teacher also claimed that she was not the only one woman who was targeted by Naidu, as he allegedly targeted several women from different backgrounds and had created an atmosphere of fear among the female teachers.
She also said that no woman dared to speak against him because of his status and political power, and she was speaking only after quitting that workplace. "Since the women are from poor backgrounds, they were afraid to come forward," the FIR quoted her as saying.
Lokesh Jagalasur, DCP (South), stated that the police have initiated the detailed probe into the matter. However, Naidu dismissed the charges by labeling them as "baseless". He further said that there was a conspiracy by the RTI activists, and he was wrongly framed into the case. He clarified that he hardly visited the school, and the principal and administrator handled its operations.
"These are fake cases filed by individuals with vested interests. I hardly visited the school, and we have a principal and administrator who handle its operations. I will hold a press conference soon to address this," Naidu was quoted as saying by India Today. He also stated that his legal team will look into this matter and will act accordingly.
