Bengaluru News: Bengaluru police are investigating a suspected murder-suicide involving three members of a family in Suddaguntepalya on Monday. A 68-year-old woman, her daughter and the daughter’s 14-year-old son were found dead at their home on Tavarekere 2nd Cross.
The deceased were identified as Madamma, her daughter Sudha (38) and Sudha’s son, Maunish.
Police Suspect Boy Was Killed First
Early inquiries indicate that the two women are believed to have taken their lives around 9 AM. Investigators suspect that the boy may have been killed before the woman died. Police are examining the sequence of events to determine the exact circumstances.

Family Faced Heavy Financial Strain
According to officers, the family had been struggling with severe financial problems. They previously operated a biryani outlet and later ran a chips unit, but both ventures reportedly collapsed. More recently, Madamma and Sudha worked as domestic help while also running a small milk supply business.
The Hindu report cited Police sources as stating that the mother and daughter were under significant debt, which may have pushed them towards the extreme step. Sudha had been separated from her husband for several years and was living with her mother and son.
Visited Temple A Day Before Incident
The family, originally from Tamil Nadu, had been living in Bengaluru for many years. On Sunday, they travelled to Dharmapuri in Tamil Nadu to visit a temple. They also spoke with relatives a few hours before the suspected suicide.
Investigation Under Way
The incident reportedly came to light when neighbours grew concerned after not seeing the family outside for a long time. Police and forensic teams inspected the home and are searching for any material that could clarify the motive.
Officers are also questioning neighbours for additional information. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem and the police will proceed further once the reports are received.
