- 20-year-old paramedical student Uday Gowda found dead.
- Decomposed body discovered two days after suspected suicide.
- Family assumed he was at sister's; online gaming suspected.
A 20-year-old paramedical student's decomposed body was found in a room of his home in the Madanayakanahalli area of Bengaluru on Friday. The incident came to light when family members smelled a strong odour and went to the first floor to find him hanging from a noose.
The deceased has been identified as Uday Gowda. According to preliminary police investigations, Uday was a paramedical student at a private college and also worked part-time at a commercial establishment.
Found out two days later
The initial probe revealed that his parents lived on the ground floor of the house, while Uday lived in a room on the first floor.
Police suspect that Uday died by suicide by hanging himself on Wednesday, but the family discovered it on Friday. When his mother went to the first floor, she smelled a strong odour. She immediately alerted her husband, who then broke down the door and found Uday's body hanging inside.

Misunderstanding of family members
Madanayakanahalli police immediately arrived at the scene, but no suicide note was recovered from the room. The parents told police that Uday often returned home late. He would either be out with friends or go to his older sister's house, who lives with her husband.
Since the door of the upstairs room was closed, the parents assumed that Uday was staying at his sister's house and hence did not pay any attention for two days.
Online gaming addiction
Uday's brother-in-law alleged that he was addicted to online gaming and suspects this addiction led to his suicide. However, Uday's parents have denied this to the police, stating that he had no gaming addiction.
A senior police officer said there appears to be no foul play or foul play in the death. It is clearly a case of suicide, but the exact cause is yet to be determined.
Uday never mentioned any problems to his parents. His mobile phone has been confiscated and sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory for data recovery.
