Bengaluru Flyover: The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has approved a 1.5-km elevated roadway that will link an under-construction tech park in Bellandur, developed by Prestige Group, directly to the Outer Ring Road (ORR) in Bengaluru. The proposed flyover will run parallel to a public road and skirt a stormwater drain. As part of the agreement for permission to use public land, Prestige Group has committed to widening the congested Kariyammana Agrahara Road. Additionally, the company will fully fund the construction of the flyover from its own resources, according to the HT report.
Routes To Be Connected
Prestige Group initially submitted a proposal to the BBMP in August 2022, followed by a revised application in late 2023. The company cited heavy traffic congestion on critical approach roads, Old Airport Road via Yemalur and Kariyammana Agrahara Road, as the primary reason for the project. The upcoming Prestige Beta Tech Park, currently under construction, is expected to house over 5,000 employees once it becomes operational.
Approval for the project was granted in April this year, reportedly following consultations with Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar. BBMP officials have made it clear that the new flyover must remain accessible to the general public, not just to Prestige employees. Additionally, the company is eligible to receive Transferable Development Rights (TDRs) for any land it cedes for road widening, provided it meets all legal requirements.
Interestingly, approval for the flyover came nearly a year after the building plan for the tech park was sanctioned. The 70-acre site received its initial clearance from the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) in September 2023.

According to the report, the Technical Director at Bengaluru Smart Infrastructure Ltd confirmed the project’s approval and added that Prestige will also fund the construction of a new 40-foot-wide connector road. This road is expected to reduce the travel distance to Sakra Hospital Road by approximately 2.5 km. He described the initiative as part of a larger effort to promote public-private partnerships in infrastructure development.
