Bengaluru Weather: Bengaluru is likely to remain under cloudy skies with on-and-off rain showers throughout this week, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). From July 6 to 9, light rainfall is expected each day, while heavier rain may arrive on July 10. By July 11, the forecast suggests only partly cloudy skies, indicating a possible break in the wet weather.

The IMD report also forecasts gusty winds ranging from 40 to 50 kmph during this period. The ongoing spell of rain and cool weather is being driven by active monsoon systems across the subcontinent. These include a monsoon trough extending from Sri Ganganagar in Rajasthan to the northeast Bay of Bengal, passing through key locations such as Bhiwani, Agra, Banda, Dehri, Purulia and Kolkata. Additionally, an offshore trough is currently active from south Gujarat to the Karnataka coast.

This combination of systems is expected to keep Bengaluru's weather cloudy, breezy and damp in the coming days. Daytime temperatures are expected to stay around 28 degrees Celsius, while night temperatures will be near 20 degrees Celsius.

Although the monsoon season had begun with high hopes of above-average rainfall for Bengaluru, the month of June ended with a rain deficit. Meteorologists say this shortfall was mainly due to unusually strong pre-monsoon showers in May, which disturbed the early momentum of the monsoon. However, experts remain hopeful that July will bring more consistent rainfall as the monsoon strengthens along the western coast.

Orange Alert Issued For Eight Karnataka Districts

Elsewhere in Karnataka, the IMD has issued an orange alert for eight districts likely to experience heavy rainfall until July 9. These include Dakshina Kannada, Uttara Kannada, Udupi, Belagavi, Chikkamagaluru, Hassan, Kodagu and Shivamogga. Heavy to very heavy rain is expected in the coastal areas, particularly in Uttara Kannada, Dakshina Kannada, and Udupi districts.
