The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has called off its decision to round off bus fares, which primarily affected male passengers who frequently travelled by bus. The corporation had implemented the fare rounding off system for premium service buses, specifically 400 buses, but it has now been suspended. Transport department officials confirmed this decision on Friday.
The KSRTC has announced the discontinuation of its fare rounding system for ticket purchases, effective with the successful integration of UPI payment. Previously, fares were rounded off to the nearest multiple of Rs 5 or 10, such as Rs 101-105 being charged as Rs 100 and Rs 106-109 being rounded up to Rs 110.
The department is now set to make changes in the software working on the rounding-off system after they decided to call off the rounding-off system following a discussion. It is anticipated that the move will streamline fare transactions for passengers using KSRTC services.
KSRTC To Provide Tour Package To Religious Sites
Along with this, the corporation recently announced a tour package covering seven religious sites in the Kolar region. Designed for the weekend, the service provides a one-day trip starting from Kempegowda Bus Station Majestic in the morning and returning by night.
On the other hand, the corporation also plans to hire 8,000 additional staff members, of which 2000 have already been hired to enhance the services provided by it.
