Bengaluru News: Bengaluru police have arrested a school teacher and two others for allegedly blackmailing and extorting money from a student’s father. The Central Crime Branch detained 25-year-old Sridevi Rudagi, along with her associates Ganesh Kale, 38 and Sagar, 28, after they reportedly demanded Rs 20 lakh from the victim using private photos and videos.
According to a NDTV report, the victim is a businessman residing in western Bengaluru with his wife and three daughters. He had enrolled his youngest daughter, a five-year-old, in a local school in 2023. During the admission process, he met Rudagi, who later kept in touch with him. Over time, their communication shifted to personal conversations through messages and video calls on a separate phone. Eventually, they met in person, leading to an affair.
According to the police, Rudagi initially extorted Rs 4 lakh from the father. In January, she further demanded Rs 15 lakh. When he hesitated, she visited his home, asking for Rs 50,000. As his business began facing difficulties, the father decided to move his family to Gujarat and needed a Transfer Certificate (TC) for his child.
His ordeal worsened in early March when he went to the school to request the TC. There, he was allegedly cornered in Rudagi’s office, where Kale and Sagar confronted him with personal photos and videos. They threatened to send the content to his family unless he paid Rs 20 lakh. After negotiations, he agreed to pay Rs 15 lakh, transferring an initial amount of Rs 1.9 lakh. However, the threats continued.

On March 17, Rudagi called him again, reminding him of the pending payment. She allegedly stated that Rs 5 lakh was meant for a former police officer, Rs 1 lakh each for Kale and Sagar, and the remaining Rs 8 lakh for herself.
Realising the seriousness of the situation, the father reported the matter to the police. The authorities quickly investigated and confirmed the police officer’s involvement. Rudagi, Kale and Sagar were arrested and sent to judicial custody for 14 days.
The investigation is ongoing, with officials probing the extent of the extortion racket and any additional accomplices involved.
