Bengaluru News: The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) announced that they are planning a 40-km underground tunnel road to tackle the issue of infamous traffic jams in Bengaluru. The BBMP stated that it has already completed the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the ambitious infrastructure project. It also assured that the project will provide relief to the commuters who travel on a daily basis for work purposes.

Providing details, the BBMP stated that the project will feature two major corridors. While an 18-km North-South tunnel will connect the Hebbal flyover to the Silk Board junction, a 22-km East-West tunnel will be linking KR Puram to Mysore Road. The project promises to address the traffic congestion issue on some of the busiest routes of Bengaluru, Times Now reported, citing several reports. The feasibility study indicates that a single-tube tunnel will be more economical compared to a twin-tube tunnel.
