Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway Project: The travel time from Bengaluru to Mysuru has been reduced to just 75 minutes. Earlier, the journey used to take around three hours. This improvement is due to upgraded infrastructure and better connectivity. In 2023, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the much-awaited Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway at a public meeting in Mandya district. He dedicated the 119-kilometre fully access-controlled road to the nation, calling it a gift to the people of Karnataka.

Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway Details

Two Phases Construction – Built in two phases: a 58-km stretch from Bengaluru to Nidaghatta and a 61-km stretch from Nidaghatta to Mysuru.

Bharatmala Pariyojana Initiative – Constructed under the Government of India’s flagship Bharatmala Pariyojana (BMP) programme.

Cost Of Project: Developed at a total cost of Rs 8,480 crore.

Reduced Travel Time – Cuts down travel time between Bengaluru and Mysuru to 75 minutes from the earlier three hours.

Fully Access-Controlled – Designed as a fully access-controlled expressway for smoother and safer travel.

Infrastructure Features – Includes 11 overpasses, 64 underpasses, and 42 small bridges for efficient connectivity.

Bypasses for Decongestion – Features five bypasses to ease traffic congestion in key areas.

Multi-Lane Configuration – Consists of six main lanes with additional two-lane service roads on both sides.

Enhanced Safety Measures – Built with modern road infrastructure to ensure safer travel conditions.
