Two teachers from a government school in Bengaluru's Begur were suspended for allegedly instructing students to clean school toilets. The incident, which took place in January, only came to light after videos and photos of children engaged in the task went viral recently.

Authorities have taken disciplinary action against headmistress Sakamma and physical training teacher Sumitramma, suspending them from their duties. Meanwhile, Begur police have registered a case under the Juvenile Justice Act and launched an investigation.

The controversy gained attention when Nagesh, a political party functionary and social worker from Seshadripuram, filed a complaint with the Begur police on March 29. He alleged that the teachers forced students to clean toilets on January 16. His complaint was based on media reports, as regional news channels recently aired visuals of the students performing the task.

According to a senior police official, the education department has initiated an internal probe into the matter. "A notice will be issued to the accused teachers for questioning. Further action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation," the official stated, as reported by Times of India.

The viral video was initially recorded by an auto-rickshaw driver whose child studies at the school. He captured the students cleaning toilets on his mobile phone and shared the footage with other parents. However, it gained widespread attention only after circulating for nearly two months.

This is not the first case of students being forced into such activities in Bengaluru. In a similar incident at a school in Andrahalli, students were recorded cleaning toilets, sparking outrage among parents. Following protests, the education department suspended the headmistress.
