Bengaluru Metro Updte: Uber has reportedly launched its delivery service for businesses in cooperation with the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) in Bengaluru. The firm has also launched its metro ticket bookings in the tech city, stating that it will significantly provide relief to the commuters. It also stated that groceries will be provided for the first few weeks, adding that restaurants will be added in the upcoming months. Uber has also emphasised that the similar services will begin in more cities.
“Uber Direct is our foray into business-to-business (B2B) logistics. It offers a plug-and-play solution and lets businesses tap into our wide range of logistics. Starting with groceries today, we will soon have more restaurants on board. We will bring this to more cities and more form factors," said Prabhjeet Singh, president, Uber India and South Asia, was quoted as saying by Moneycontrol.
The officials stated that the commuters will be able to purchase metro tickets on the Uber app through UPI. Apart from this, the app will also give real-time metro information, adding that these facilities will benefit the passengers. The firm also stated that the drivers using the app can also be part of the Uber Direct Service, adding that it will boost their earning potential.
"Uber continues to offer attractive earnings to drivers. A driver using the app today can also be part of the Uber Direct service, which will increase their earning opportunities and keep them on the network longer," Singh was quoted as saying by NDTV.

In separate news, the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) is planning to boost the metro services by significantly improving the frequency. The authority is set to operate trains at a four-minute frequency on all the corridors in the next two years. The officials stated that the improved frequency will also boost the ridership and will provide convenience to the commuters by cutting the travel time.
