Bengaluru News: The Karnataka government is set to allow the public to explore the interiors of Vidhana Soudha, the state’s legislative assembly, through guided tour on public holidays. This initiative will enable visitors to experience the historical significance of the building, which has long stood as a symbol of political authority in the state.
Bengaluru Vidhana Soudha Public Tour
According to a Deccan Herald report, the tours will be available from 8 AM to 6 PM, accommodating groups of up to 30 people. Each group will be led by a designated officer from the Tourism Department, who will provide valuable insights into the architecture, history and political importance of Vidhana Soudha.
This plan, developed by the Tourism Department, has received approval from the state government and draws inspiration from similar initiatives at the Indian Parliament and Rashtrapati Bhavan. An online portal for ticket bookings will be launched soon and while ticket prices are not yet confirmed, the government aims to keep them affordable for all.
This initiative is part of a broader effort led by Speaker U T Khader to enhance public engagement with the legislature. The government is committed to ensuring that the tour are well-organised and educational, allowing visitors to gain a deeper understanding of Vidhana Soudha’s role in Karnataka’s political and cultural narrative.
Bengaluru Vidhana Soudha Literature Festival
Recently, Vidhana Soudha also served as the venue for Karnataka's first-ever literature and cultural festival, held from February 27 to March 3. The event featured a book fair with around 150 stalls, focusing primarily on Kannada literature, while also showcasing works in English and other languages. The festival provided budding authors with a platform to launch their books and included a variety of cultural performances in the evenings, transforming the iconic building into a vibrant celebration of culture and creativity.
