Bengaluru Water Cut: Bengaluru residents should brace for a major water supply disruption starting Sunday, September 15, as the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) takes up urgent maintenance. The city will face a 60-hour shutdown, affecting areas that rely on Cauvery water.
According to officials, the maintenance work will include repairs at the Cauvery Stage V pumping station. In addition, servicing will be carried out at Phase-1 and Phase-2 stations, which handle Cauvery Stages I to IV. The disruption will begin at 6 AM on Sunday and is expected to continue until 6 AM on Tuesday, 17 September.
BWSSB Chairman V. Ram Prasath Manohar explained that the repairs are essential to ensure the long-term efficiency of pipelines and pumping stations. “These works are necessary for the smooth functioning of the Cauvery Water Supply Project,” he said.
Authorities have advised citizens to make necessary arrangements ahead of time. Storing water in advance and using it carefully during the shutdown has been strongly recommended.
Bengaluru Power Cut
The Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (BESCOM) has announced scheduled power cuts on September 13 and 14, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, as part of its routine quarterly maintenance. The work aims to upgrade infrastructure and ensure a stable electricity supply across Bengaluru and parts of Tumakuru district.
In Bengaluru, areas such as K.G. Temple, Hirehalli, Honnudike, Hennur, and Thimmasandra will be affected. Tumakuru towns and villages including Nittur, Gubbi, Bidre, Doddaguni, Kadaba, and regions served by C.T. Kere Substation will also face outages. Residents are advised to plan daily activities, charge devices, and use backup power if needed. The utility stressed that the maintenance is essential to prevent unexpected power failures.
