Bengaluru Weather Update: Heavy and incessant rain has battered Bengaluru for the past two days, and the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has extended the rainfall alert as the weather has shown no sign of abating anytime soon.
In the latest forecast, the Bengaluru centre of the weather department has forecast rain in the IT city till Saturday. Initially, the weather department has alerted downpour till Thursday. However, the intensity of rain is likely to reduce after Thursday.
Bengaluru Rains: Day wise-forecast
Wednesday (May 20): The IMD has said that the skies over Bengaluru Urban and Rural will remain cloudy with moderate to heavy rainfall accompanied by thundershowers with winds gusting 40-50 kmph.
Thursday (May 21), Friday (May 22), and Saturday (May 23): According to the Bengaluru center, both Bengaluru Urban and Rural will face moderate to heavy rainfall accompanied by thundershowers, cloudy sky, and gusty winds (30-40 kmph).
During the coming days, the maximum temperature in the Karnataka capital will rise from 27 degrees Celsius on Tuesday to 29 degrees Celsius on Saturday. The minimum temperature during this period is will remain 21 degrees Celsius.

Bengaluru receives second highest rainfall in decades
In the past two days, Bengaluru received unprecedented rainfall, bringing the city to its knees. Waterlogging, traffic snarls were witnessed all across the city.
From Sunday evening to early Monday morning, the Karnataka capital received 130 mm (13 cm) of rainfall in just 12 hours. It is the second-highest rainfall in a decade, according to the officials.
Moreover, in 24 hours ending at Tuesday 1:00 pm, the Bengaluru Urban witnessed very heavy rainfall of 37.2 mm. Given the inclement weather, the top IT compnaies, including Cognizant, have directed employees to work from home (WFH). In Bengaluru, five people lost their lives in rain related incidents in the past two days.
