Bengaluru Weather: As monsoon activity further increased in Karnataka, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said that there will be heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning in most of the coastal, northern and southern districts of the state. The weather body has sounded a yellow alert for heavy rain during the next five days, from October 14 to 18 in Bengaluru. Additionally, an orange alert has been announced for October 17 in the southern and coastal regions. However, no rain activity will be witnessed in the northern interior of the state during the same period.
Alert For Bengaluru Fishermen
In coastal Karnataka, winds will blow at a speed of 35 km to 45 km accompanied by a stormy weather. Therefore, the weather body has advised the fishermen not to venture out into the sea during this period. Meanwhile, Bengaluru and surrounding districts are witnessing heavy rain since early morning today leading to traffic congestion. Due to this, commuters, traders and motorists have been facing inconvenience.
Karnataka Weather
Karkala in Udupi and BaleHonnur in Chikmagalur received the maximum rainfall on Sunday, October 13. Nanjangud, Jayapura, Bellur, Somwarpete, Sarguru, Uppinangadi, Kadra, Shirali, Haliyal, Dharmasthala, Haveri, Hukkeri, Chamarajanagar, Kushalnagar, Napoklu, Kammaradi, Hunsur, Magadi, Ramanagara, Harangi, and Siddapur also witnessed heavy rainfall.

Chennai Weather
The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) has issued an orange alert in many districts of Tamil Nadu till October 18. In a statement issued on Sunday, the RMC has predicted 204 mm of rainfall in the southern state during this period.
Following the forecast of rain, the Tamil Nadu Disaster Management Authority has done all the preparations for any eventuality and has already put 65,000 volunteers on alert.The volunteers will be available for rescue and relief operations along with state government agencies.
According to Greater Chennai Corporation authorities, 10,000 volunteers will be available for service in Chennai alone.
As per the RMC, heavy showers are likely in several districts in the state, including Tiruppur, Coimbatore, Nilgiris, Dindigul, Theni, Virudhunagar, Pudukottai, Sivaganga, Madurai, and Ramanathapuram, starting Sunday.
