Bengaluru Weather Forecast: Bengaluru witnessed heavy downpour over the past 24 hours, bringing traffic to standstill in several parts of the city. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), rain is expected to persist on October 16 . This wet weather pattern will continue to impact Bengaluru and surrounding districts like Chamarajanagar, Mandya, and Ramanagara, lasting through October 17. As heavy rain is expected in the coming days, the IMD has issued a yellow alert for several regions in Karnataka, particularly along the coast.
As per IMD data, Bengaluru city received 16.2 mm rainfall and the HAL airport station received 8.6 mm for the last 24 hours ending 8:30 am on Tuesday.
“Generally cloudy sky. Light to moderate rain and thunder showers, heavy at times very likely. Maximum and minimum temperatures very likely to be around 25°C and 20°C respectively,” states the local forecast for Bengaluru city and the neighbourhood for the next 24 hours which was issued by the IMD at 9 am
On October 15, Bengaluru is expected to see heavy rain throughout the day, with temperatures reaching around 25°C. Districts such as Bengaluru Rural, Chikkaballapura, Chikkamagaluru, Kolar, and Mysuru may experience particularly heavy downpours.
In coastal Karnataka, districts including Dakshina Kannada and Udupi are also under alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall. In southern regions such as Chamarajanagar, Kodagu, Mandya, and Mysuru, significant rain could lead to local disruptions. Authorities are urging residents to remain cautious and be prepared for potential challenges.

Bengaluru Traffic Advisory
As rain wreaked havoc leading to waterlogging and traffic chaos, commuters struggled to navigate inundated roads. Traffic moved at snail’s pace across major roads in Bengaluru as rains lashed the city nonstop since wee hours of the morning on Tuesday, October 15, leading to waterlogging.
Bengaluru Traffic Police (BTP) issued advisories for several areas that witnessed traffic snarls, including Mahadevapura, Marathahalli, Seshadripuram, Sanjay Nagar, Hunasemaranahalli, Hebbal flyover and Outer Ring Road (ORR) and Bannerghatta Road as the roads got inundated due to rain.
According to the traffic police, the road near Sakra hospital and the railway underbridge at Panathur was inundated, resulting in slow movement of traffic. A stretch at Outer Ring Road (ORR) was also waterlogged.
Slow movement of traffic was also reported from Mysuru-Bengaluru expressway area due to poor visibility. For now, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has cleared water logging at underneath the Hebbal flyover.
