A Bengaluru woman turned to social media in a plea to find her husband, who has been missing since August 4. The woman, identified as Sreeparna Dutta, stated that her husband, Vipin Gupta, a 37-year-old tech professional employed at Manyata Tech Park, has been missing for over a week. The woman stated that she reported the disappearance to Kodigehalli Police Station but alleged that the police showed little urgency in the investigation.

Vipin Gupta, originally from Lucknow, was last seen riding his bike, which was later found abandoned in the parking lot of a private hospital. His wife stated that Rs 1.8 lakh was withdrawn from his bank account just 24 minutes after he went missing and his phone has been switched off since 2:00 pm on the same day.

Frustrated by the lack of progress in the case, Dutta took to social media platforms such as Facebook and X, appealing for public help. She expressed her anguish during a Facebook Live broadcast, stating that her husband was not suffering from depression or any addiction. Dutta also revealed that she received calls demanding ransom for her husband's release, which the police dismissed as hoaxes.

"Please help, I am one of the resident of this city and I have 2 small daughters. Your support is requested for an efficient , strong search as police is not putting efforts. I do not have any money as during the disappearance 1.8 lakh was withdrawn. Please help at the earliest," Dutta wrote in a post on X.

Dutta further alleged that the police initially refused to file a First Information Report (FIR) and only registered the case on August 6 after her repeated requests. In response to Dutta’s concerns, Bengaluru DCP North East assured her via X on August 13 that the investigation is ongoing and that efforts to recover her husband are being prioritised.
