An Air India flight was delayed after the pilot collapsed in the cockpit moments before operating a flight that was bound for Delhi from Bengaluru in the early hours of Friday, news agency PTI reported, quoting sources.
One of the pilots who was rostered to operate Air India flight AI 2414 to Delhi from Bengaluru, encountered a ‘medical emergency’ after he collapsed inside the cockpit just before signing mandatory documents, tech log, to accept the aircraft for flying.
"There was a medical emergency involving one of our pilots in the early hours of July 4. As a result, the pilot was unable to operate the flight AI2414 from Bengaluru to Delhi, which he was rostered for, and was taken to a local hospital immediately," Air India said in a statement.

The Sources said that the pilot had entered the cockpit and was preparing to sign crucial documents to fly the aircraft when he fainted, the agency reported.
"He is currently stable but continues to be under the supervision of doctors at the same hospital," the airline said.
"Our immediate priority is to assist the pilot and his family to ensure his speedy recovery," the airline said in the statement.
Air India further said that flight AI2414 was delayed and was operated by another pilot.
