Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Saturday, criticised Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha a day after he announced his exit from the Aam Admi Party (AAP) and joined the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP). Sharing a hard-hitting post on X, Mann wrote in Punjabi, "Ginger, garlic, cumin, fenugreek powder, red chili, black pepper, and coriander—these 7 things together make the 'sabzi' taste great, but on their own, they can't become a 'sabzi.'" "

Soon the post caught the BJP's attention, and Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini labelled the post as respectful to the farmers. "He does nothing but crack jokes all day long.

While this might entertain the public, it certainly won't bring about any systemic change," Saini said, adding that the comment insulted farmers who grow such crops.

Raghav Chadha, along with six other MPs, exited from the AAP on Friday at a press conference. Chadha at the gathering accused the AAP of corruption and drifting away from its principles.

At a press conference, he said, "I gave the AAP 15 years of my life. Now the party has stepped away from honest politics. I am moving away and going close to the people. Today, the AAP is corrupt and compromised. It is not the old party. I don't want to engage in the wrongdoings of AAP."

He was joined by MPs Ashok Mittal and Sandeep Pathak at the announcement and said that Harbhajan Singh, Swati Maliwal, Rajinder Gupta, and Vikram Sahney also supported the move and would join the BJP.

The unexpected exit highlights a major split within the AAP’s Rajya Sabha ranks, with the group accounting for two-thirds of the party’s strength in the Upper House.

Reacting to the exits, AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal posted a brief reaction, saying, "The BJP has once again betrayed the Punjabis."

However, the fallout is not abrupt. Recently, there was friction between Chadha and the party leadership. Earlier this month, the AAP had removed him as its deputy leader in the Rajya Sabha and sought to limit his participation in the House.

Chadha had responded through video messages, calling the move a "scripted campaign" and "coordinated action" against him.
