A fresh twist has emerged in the controversial Bharat Bhushan Tiwari encounter case in Bihar's Bhojpur district. Based on a complaint filed by his mother, Asha Devi, an FIR has been registered at Shahpur Police Station over the death of Bharat Bhushan Tiwari, a resident of Bilauti village.

The FIR names the Jagdishpur DSP, the then Shahpur Station House Officer (SHO), and several other police personnel as accused.

Mother Alleges Police Killed Her Son

In her complaint, Asha Devi alleged that her son was killed in a police firing despite surrendering during the incident. She claimed that Bharat Bhushan had laid down his weapon and surrendered, but was allegedly assaulted by police personnel before being shot.

“I am saying that whoever killed my son should be hanged. I want justice. If the government has the power, then it should help us get justice. I have no faith in Samrat Choudhary," Asha Devi said.

'He Was Raising Flood Victims' Issues'

According to the complaint, Bharat Bhushan Tiwari had been actively highlighting the problems faced by flood-displaced residents of the Jawainia area and regularly raising their concerns before the administration.

Asha Devi alleged that on the morning of June 17, a police team led by the Jagdishpur DSP and the Shahpur SHO arrived at their residence and asked Bharat to accompany them to the flood-affected region to point out local issues.

The complaint further states that after reaching Jawainia, Bharat Bhushan was broadcasting the plight of flood victims through a Facebook Live session.

His mother alleged that after presenting the demands of the affected residents, Bharat threw the weapon he was carrying onto the ground and surrendered before the police. Despite this, she claimed, police personnel pushed him to the ground.

Allegation Of Five Bullets Fired

The FIR contains serious allegations that police personnel opened fire on Bharat Bhushan Tiwari on the instructions of the Jagdishpur DSP.

According to the complaint, he was shot five times, leaving him critically injured. Police then allegedly took him away in a vehicle, and the family was later informed that he had died.

Father Allegedly Detained At Police Station

Asha Devi also alleged that after the incident, her husband, Kashinath Tiwari, was taken to the police station and made to remain there throughout the day. The family was informed of Bharat Bhushan Tiwari's death later that evening.

Responding to the allegations, Bhojpur SP Raj said an investigation is being carried out based on the complaint received.

With an FIR now registered against police officials, attention has shifted to the ongoing probe. Authorities say the investigation report will determine the exact circumstances surrounding the encounter and assess the validity of the allegations made by the family.
