Rajasthan Police submitted a 400-page charge sheet before the court on Saturday, accusing nine out of 11 suspects of gang-raping a minor and burning her alive in a coal furnace in Bhilwara, Rajasthan, nearly a month after the body parts of the girl were discovered inside the coal furnace while a separate charge sheet would be filed against two minors allegedly involved in the crime.

According to the forensic examination, the girl was not dead when she was set on fire in the furnace. She might have been in a state of unconsciousness, but she was still breathing. Therefore, the police have included Section 326 of the IPC, which deals with voluntarily causing grievous hurt, in the FIR against the accused.

“Some charred body parts of the girl were recovered from the furnace, while others were found scattered at various places,” case investigating officer and Kotari DSP Shyam Sunder Bishnoi said, adding that the next court hearing is scheduled on September 8.

The 14-year-old girl was reportedly assaulted by multiple men and killed on August 3 at Kotari in Bhilwara, which is now part of the new Shahpura district. Some burnt remains of the girl were found in the furnace, while others were located at different spots, which were preserved for forensic examination.
