Bhopal Blood Theft: The AIIMS Bhopal filed a police case after several units of blood and plasma had been stolen from the blood bank of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences. AIIMS blood bank in-charge Dr Gyanendra Prasad lodged a complaint with the Bagh Sevania police station, following which the police filed an FIR against an outsourced employee.

Police said the complainant claimed that blood and plasma units had been disappearing from the blood bank for a long time. Assistant Commissioner of Police (Misrod area) Rajnish Kashyap Koul stated that an outsourced employee has been booked and he will be arrested soon. Police have sought CCTV footage of the hospital premises from the AIIMS administration as part of the probe.

Police sources said the accused was captured in CCTV footage a couple of days ago while allegedly stealing some units of plasma (liquid portion of blood) and handing them over to an unidentified person.

AIIMS authorities suspected some insider's role in the matter, and had placed CCTV cameras inside the blood bank. Police launched an investigation into the matter.

Mobile Phone Of Senior Police Official Snatched In Bhopal

In another strange case, the mobile phone of an Inspector General of Police was snatched by two men on a motorbike in Char Imli area of the city on September 24. The incident took place when Dr Ashish, posted as IG (intelligence) at the state police headquarters, was walking outside his house with his wife.

Two men on a motorbike snatched a mobile phone from his hand and fled. Police sources claimed that the accused actually snatched two mobile phones from Dr Ashish's hand, but one of them threw a phone away when he realised that it belonged to a police officer, and it was later recovered. Police launched a search to nab the accused.
