The authorities in Bhopal are again under the scanner after a newly built restroom in Aishbagh was enclosed by the railways within its boundary wall. The restroom was recently built by the Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) to serve the residents and traders. While the site was used as the dumping site for a long time, the authority built the restroom following multiple requests. However, the property reportedly belonged to the railways, which enclosed it, leaving the restroom of no use.
While talking about the project, the residents claimed that they advised the authority to not build the toilet on the railway property, reported the Times of India. However, the officials ignored their advice and completed the construction near the busy railway overbridge, leading to the controversy. The locals also stated that they advised the BMC to build the restroom near the water tank, a property owned by the authority itself.
"This is a glaring example of negligence," one of the trader was quoted as saying by the TOI. "Public money has been spent, but who will use this facility when there is no way to enter it?" another resident questioned. The locals questioned that why the construction was allowed despite being informed about the ownership of the land.
The accountability is yet to be decided, as neither the ward councilor nor the officials from the BMC were available to provide details, reported TOI. Apart from this, BMC executive superintending engineer RR Jaroliya stated that he will address the issue upon returning to the city.

Earlier last month, the authorities stated that the controversial railway overbridge (ROB) in Bhopal's Aishbagh will undergo a makeover. The decision was taken after an agreement between the railways and the Public Works Department (PWD).
