Bhubaneswar News: A new international flight route connecting Bhubaneswar to Abu Dhabi is set to begin in June 2025. This announcement was made by the Odisha Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) on Thursday. The new service will operate from Biju Patnaik International Airport and will be managed by IndiGo Airlines.
Flights on this route will be available three times a week—on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. The initiative comes under the Building Management of Aviation Assets and Network (B-MAAN) scheme, launched to improve air travel facilities and connectivity in Odisha.
Sharing the update on social media, the CMO said that this move is a step towards making Bhubaneswar a global gateway. The statement also noted that the launch would promote tourism, trade and investment, helping Odisha grow as a developed state.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for supporting this aviation initiative. The B-MAAN scheme is part of the state’s broader efforts to improve aviation infrastructure and connect Odisha with more domestic and international destinations.
As part of the 2025-26 budget, the state government has introduced plans to modernise airports and build new ones. This includes a proposal for a greenfield airport in Paradip. The aim is to start flights to 10 new domestic locations and three international cities.
In addition, the Odisha New Destination Policy-2024 offers financial support to airlines to cover the gap between operational expenses and expected revenue. The government has allocated Rs 382 crore to support these efforts, boosting the overall air travel network within and outside the state.
