Bihar Assembly Election 2025: As the buzz around the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections grows louder, the Congress party is moving quickly to firm up its strategy. In a crucial meeting held on Thursday, the party zeroed in on 76 assembly seats from its share under the alliance arrangement and has already shortlisted candidates for about 36 of them.
The meeting, held at the Congress headquarters in Patna’s Sadaqat Ashram, was the first formal gathering of the newly formed Bihar Pradesh Election Committee. It saw intense discussions around finalizing the seats and candidates, planning for Priyanka Gandhi’s visit, and the upcoming Congress Working Committee (CWC) session.
Bihar Congress in-charge Krishna Allavaru and State President Rajesh Ram both emphasized the importance of maintaining unity within the party ranks. “There are several seats with two to three strong contenders,” they noted, adding that to avoid any infighting over ticket distribution, “the final decision on candidates will be taken by the party high command.”
Sources told Jagran.com that during the meeting, Rajesh Ram proposed authorizing the central leadership to take the final call on candidates, an idea that received unanimous support via a show of hands.

To ensure smooth execution of her visit, the party decided to set up a special coordination committee. This will be Priyanka Gandhi’s first formal electoral rally in Bihar. Previously, she had joined Rahul Gandhi during the “Voter Adhikar Yatra,” but this marks her debut in leading a full-fledged campaign event in the state.
