The Bihar government is implementing multiple schemes to boost self-employment and entrepreneurship among youth, women, and economically weaker sections. So far, thousands of beneficiaries have received financial assistance worth crores of rupees under these initiatives.

Under the Mukhyamantri Udyami Yojana, 43,870 beneficiaries have been supported with a total project amount of Rs 3,125.52 crore. The scheme provides financial assistance of up to Rs 10 lakh to set up new industries, split into a 50 per cent loan and a 50 per cent grant.

Beneficiaries under the Yuva Udyami Yojana are also offered loans at just 1 per cent interest. In the current financial year (2024–25), 1,333 beneficiaries received the second instalment of assistance worth Rs 62.10 crore.

The Bihar Laghu Udyami Yojana has so far benefitted 71,740 people, with a total disbursement of Rs 570 crore. The scheme provides a maximum grant of Rs 2 lakh in three instalments to support self-employment ventures. Of these, 11,535 beneficiaries have already received Rs 57.67 crore as the first instalment. The scheme is aimed at empowering economically weaker families and reducing unemployment.

Industries Department Minister Nitish Mishra said, “The youth, women, and entrepreneurs of Bihar are moving towards self-reliance, and the government is with them at every step.”

Officials said the schemes are playing a key role in encouraging self-employment and transforming the lives of budding entrepreneurs in the state.
