State Bureau, Patna | Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary on Wednesday held a cabinet meeting in Patna, in which he approved 24 key projects. To ensure the successful operation of nearly 1.25 lakh Anganwadi centers in the state, 6,141 Sevikas and 16,750 Sahayikas, totalling 22,891 vacant posts, will be filled. The Anganwadi Sevika-Sahayika Selection Guidelines-2026 were approved at the state cabinet meeting. The approval of the new selection guidelines paves the way for filling vacant posts in Anganwadi centers.

Services For Children And Pregnant Women To Be Strengthened

Following the cabinet meeting, Additional Chief Secretary of the Cabinet, Arvind Chaudhary, said under the Integrated Child Development Services, children up to six years of age, pregnant women, and lactating women will be given supplementary nutrition, pre-school education, health checkups, and nutrition-health education through Anganwadi centers.

Bihar Sports Policy 2026 Approved

The Cabinet also approved the Sports Policy 2026 to promote sports, nurture talented athletes, and improve existing sports infrastructure and training systems. The policy will work towards promoting sports at the grassroots level. The policy also provides for government jobs for outstanding athletes, as well as pensions for them.

The policy has been formulated by consolidating previously established policies, programs, and schemes under the Sports Department. It will focus primarily on developing sports infrastructure from the Panchayat to the state level and providing national and international-level training to athletes.

This policy will include community playgrounds in Panchayats, mini-stadiums in blocks, sports buildings and gymnasiums and district sports complexes in districts, 14 major sports complexes at the regional level, sports complexes at the divisional level, and high-performance centers, major sports complexes, and a state sports academy at the state level. A dedicated system will be developed to identify athletic talent. A pension scheme will also be launched to provide outstanding athletes with long-term financial security and dignity after their competitive careers.

Under the "Bring a Medal, Get a Job" scheme, outstanding athletes will be given government jobs. Necessary steps will be taken to ensure improved performance at the national and international levels.

Bihar Gets New Cooperative Policy-2026

The Cabinet okayed the Bihar Cooperative Policy-2026 to strengthen, modernise, and align the cooperative movement in the state with future needs. Under the policy, traditional cooperative societies will be empowered with modern technology and better management.

The formation and expansion of cooperative societies in new sectors other than agriculture will also be encouraged. The government aims to make cooperatives a strong source of employment and economic development by increasing the participation of youth, women, and all sections of society. This policy will play a key role in achieving the goal of a prosperous and developed Bihar by promoting inclusive growth.

Scheme For Vegetable Farmers

The Cabinet approved the Bihar State Vegetable Processing and Marketing Scheme worth Rs 106.39 crore to strengthen the state's vegetable producers. Under the scheme, the three-tier cooperative system of Vegfed will be expanded.

Collection centers will be established at the Panchayat level, infrastructure at the block level, working capital for cooperative societies, and refrigerated vehicles will be provided. This will promote the collection, processing, and marketing of vegetables, and farmers will be able to obtain better prices for their produce.
