Bihar Flood Relief: CM Samrat Chaudhary Transfers Rs 7,000 Each To 8.27 Lakh Affected Families

State Bureau, Patna: Tuesday brought relief to flood-affected families in Bihar as Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary distributed Rs 7,000 each to 8,27,472 flood-affected families. The ex-gratia assistance was transferred to accounts through DBT. For this purpose, the Disaster Management Department has collected details of beneficiary families from the districts based on reports from zonal officers.

According to current data, a total of Rs 579.23 crore will be provided to these families. The funds were disbursed at 11:30 am.

49.46 Lakh People In 15 Districts Affected By Floods

This year, 575 gram panchayats in 88 blocks of 15 districts of the state have been affected by floods in various rivers including Ganga, Gandak, Kosi, Punpun.

About 4.946 million people have been affected by the floods. The affected districts include Patna, Bhojpur, Saran, Vaishali, Bhagalpur, Begusarai, Buxar, Samastipur, Munger, Katihar, Lakhisarai, Khagaria, Purnia, Madhepura and Arwal.

1260 Community Kitchens Providing Food

Relief work is also continuing in flood-affected areas. 1,260 community kitchens are now operating in various districts of the state. So far, approximately 11.9 million people have been provided with meals through these kitchens every morning and evening.

Meanwhile, 13 relief camps are now operating for flood-affected people. Essential services such as housing, food, and medical care are being provided to 11,060 people.

Recently, the number of community kitchens has been increased from 1257 to 1260, while the number of relief camps has decreased from 15 to 13. So far, 13,121 quintals of animal feed have been distributed for the safety of animals.

Many Rivers Still Flowing Above Danger Mark

According to reports from the Central Water Commission and the Meteorological Department, the water level of the Ganges is receding at Sultanganj in Bhagalpur. However, the Kosi at Baltara and Kursela, the Burhi Gandak at Khagaria, the Digha Ghat, Gandhi Ghat, and Hathidah in Patna, the Punpun at Kahalgaon, Munger, and Shripalpur in Bhagalpur, the Bagmati at Benibad, and the Ghaghra at Darauli are still flowing above the danger mark.
