Railway News: Under the Amrit Bharat Yojana, around half a dozen new weekly trains linking North India with South India and Mumbai will be inaugurated on January 17 and 18. In this regard, the Railways issued an official notification on January 8.
A special highlight is that all these trains will have a stoppage at Barsoi Junction, generating tremendous excitement among local residents. The introduction of these new trains will provide significant relief to passengers travelling to major cities in South India, such as Bengaluru and Kanyakumari, as well as to Mumbai.
Until now, the shortage of trains on these routes and ticket availability had remained major problem. Reacting to this achievement, BJP leader Pintu Yadav said that the stoppage of weekly trains at Barsoi will not only benefit Barsoi but also several surrounding districts and people from the neighbouring state of West Bengal.
Passengers from Uttar Dinajpur district headquarters Raiganj, Kaliyaganj, as well as from areas like Purnia, Dalkhola, Katihar, and others, will now be able to travel easily to South India and Mumbai from Barsoi.
Barsoi Junction has already been upgraded to a Category III station based on earnings. The stoppage of these new trains will increase the number of passengers, leading to higher revenue for the station and making future expansion of passenger amenities possible.
