Bihar Road Accident: At least 13 people were killed, and 30 others were injured following a collision involving a bus, a truck, and a pickup van in Bihar's Katihar district on Saturday evening. According to the police, the road accident took place at 6:30 PM on NH-31 in Kodha block of Katihar, Superintendent of Police Shikhar Choudhary said.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the Katihar Police said, "Today, on April 11, 2026, a horrific road accident occurred near Gerabari within the jurisdiction of the Korha Police Station in Katihar District involving a bus and a pickup vehicle. 10 individuals have lost their lives in this incident so far."

"Approximately 25 individuals injured in the accident are being transferred to nearby hospitals for advanced medical care following the administration of first aid," the statement added.
Rescue and relief operations are underway, and the injured are being shifted to the nearby government hospital in Purenea for medical treatment. Speaking to news agency PTI, police said that the bus driver, who is among the injured people, may have lost control of the vehicle leading to the crash.
Police further stated that the situation at the site is fully under control and traffic is being restored to normal. An investigation is underway.

CM Nitish Kumar Offers Condolences, Announces Ex Gratia
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar expressed condolences over the incident and announced an ex gratia of Rs 2 lakh to the next of kin of each of the deceased, and Rs 50,000 to each injured.
"The chief minister... announced an ex gratia of Rs 2 lakh each to the immediate family members of the deceased from the CM's relief fund. He also announced Rs 50,000 each to those injured in the accident," an official release said.
Mathura Boat Accident: 10 Killed After Boat Capsizes In Yamuna
In a separate incident, at least ten people were killed, and several others went missing after a boat carrying around pilgrims and locals collided with a floating (pipa) bridge and capsized in the Yamuna River in Mathura. The incident occurred within the jurisdiction of the Vrindavan Kotwali police station.
"Ten dead, several missing after tourist boat capsizes in Yamuna in Mathura," DM Chandra Prakash Singh was quoted as saying.
