Correspondent, Darbhanga: A case of strangulation and death under suspicious circumstances has come to light in Baruara village of Fekla police station area in Bihar’s Darbhanga district. Following the incident, the accused husband and the in-laws fled with the two-year-old daughter. Upon receiving information, police arrived at the scene, took possession of the body, and sent it for post-mortem. An investigation has been launched into the matter.

Marriage Happened 3 Years Ago

The deceased has been identified as 22-year-old Khushboo Kumari, wife of Rakesh Mukhiya. 13. Rupesh Sahni, the deceased's younger brother, who arrived at the post-mortem house, said that on Wednesday morning, a relative called him to inform him of his sister's death.

When the family arrived at Baruara village, Khushboo's body was lying on the bed, and no one was present in the house. It is alleged that her husband and other in-laws fled, taking their two-year-old daughter with them.

Rs 4 Lakh Dowry Given, Harassed Over Rs 60,000 More

The deceased's brother alleged that Khushboo was married to Rakesh Mukhiya three years ago after paying a dowry of Rs 4 lakh. Despite this, her husband, brother-in-law, mother-in-law, and father-in-law constantly harassed her demanding the remaining dowry of Rs 60,000.

He further added that even after the birth of her daughter two years ago, her in-laws' behaviour remained unchanged. Khushboo was three months pregnant and was allegedly strangled to death over dowry demands.

Marks Found On Victim’s Neck

As per Khushboo’s family, black marks were found on her neck, which raises suspicions that she was strangled to death. An application has been filed with the Fekla police station in this matter.

The police have sent the body for a post-mortem examination and have launched a search for the accused husband and other in-laws. Police said that further action will be taken based on the post-mortem report and investigation.
