Bihar News: In a shocking incident in Bihar’s Supaul district,  a five-year-old boy reached his school with a gun on Wednesday and opened fire on another child, leaving the Class 3 student badly injured, police said. The boy, a nursery student, had gone to school with the firearm hidden in his bag. The incident took place in St. John's Boarding School located in Triveniganj.

The injured boy, identified as Asif was immediately admitted to the sub-divisional hospital Triveniganj, where he is undergoing treatment. The police have started investigating the case. The school administration is also being questioned as to how such a big negligence occurred.

Superintendent of Police, Shaishav Yadav said, "The student fired at a 10-year-old boy, who studies in the same school in Class 3. The bullet hit his arm."

"The injured boy has been rushed to a hospital. We are trying to find out how the boy got to lay his hands on the firearm and managed to carry it to the private school, which is situated in Lalpatti area," Yadav said, as quoted by news agency PTI.

"We are also asking schools across the district to ensure that bags of students are checked thoroughly on a regular basis. The incident has caused much anxiety among parents and guardians," Yadav added.

The family members of the students upset over the incident, protested by blocking NH-327 at Lalpatti village for about half an hour. They demanded the police to arrest the accused as soon as possible. The police had to work hard to clear the blockade.

The senior officials of the police department somehow managed to clear the jam by convincing the people. Police force was deployed in St. John's Boarding School.
