The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday alleged that nearly 50 per cent of the followers of the 'Cockroach Janta Party' (CJP) on social media are originating from Pakistan, while less than 10 per cent are from India.

Speaking to news agency PTI, Union Minister Sukanta Majumdar said, "49 per cent followers of 'Cockroach Janta Party' on social media from Pakistan, only 9 per cent from India".

BJP Terms CJP 'Classic Cross Border Influence Operation'

Majumdar's remarks come amid a growing political controversy surrounding the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), which emerged last week and rapidly went viral through memes and commentary targeting issues such as unemployment, education policy, and alleged examination paper leaks, Times of India reported.

Earlier, Kerala BJP President Rajeev Chandrasekhar accused the CJP of being a part of a 'classic cross-border influence operation' aimed at targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his government and destabilising India.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Chandrasekhar wrote, "In the age of social media, bots, AI and its weaponisation, influence operations are dangerous, effective ways to destabilise by building fake, seemingly organic narratives."

He alleged that sections of the opposition are amplifying the campaign, arguing that India's growth under Prime Minister Narendra Modi had drawn resentment among foreign interests.

"I have always maintained that India's rise and its modernisation under PM Narendra Modi will be resented by many countries, and there will be many hurdles created for our continued rise," he said.

Chandrasekhar further stated that despite global challenges, ranging from the Covid-19 pandemic to geopolitical conflicts and economic disruptions, the PM Modi-led government has kept India stable and resilient.

He further stated, "No cockroach, no petty Indian opposition politician, no Modi-hating joker, no foreign vested interest can stop India's resolve to build a Viksit Bharat."

Cockroach Janata Party Emerged After CJI Remarks

The 'Cockroach Janta Party' trend emerged last week following a major controversy over remarks made by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant during a court hearing. The CJP has recently launched a campaign demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak.
