Bihar Assembly Election 2025: A major political controversy erupted in the poll-bound Bihar after BJP accused RJD of using extremely disrespectful words for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's mother in a political rally. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), BJP leader Amit Malviya claimed that the incident happened during the RJD's public meeting in the Patepur Assembly constituency, adding that the RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav made "no efforts" to stop his supporters. The incident occurred weeks after derogatory remarks were used against PM Modi's mother in one of the events in Darbhanga during the Congress leader Rahul Gandhi-led 'Voter Adhikaar Yatra'.

Amit Malviya, in his post, reminded that the Congress had made similar attempts to insult the prime minister's mother by sharing an AI-generated video. "Today, once again in the Patepur Assembly constituency, during the RJD's public meeting, extremely disrespectful words were used for the Prime Minister's mother. Tejashwi Yadav was present on the stage, but he made no effort to stop his supporters," Malviya stated in his post.

"First, the Bihar Congress released a disgusting video from its official account, and now RJD has made the Prime Minister's late mother be insulted with abuses. This is the opposition's politics—no civility, no culture," he added. The RJD has not released any official statement regarding the incident yet.

Several BJP leaders, including Home Minister Amit Shah, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, and Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, stated that the people of Bihar will teach a lesson to the opposition for insulting PM Modi and his mother. While expressing disappointment over the incident, PM Modi stated that while the opposition leaders should criticise the policies of any government, any personal attack is "highly regretful".

However, the Congress leaders also reminded that the saffron party leaders have also insulted the former prime ministers Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi, and Rajeev Gandhi.
