Modi 3.0: Newly elected MPs of the Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance will meet in New Delhi on Friday to elect Narendra Modi as their leader. Telugu Desam Party supremo N Chandrababu Naidu reportedly directed all party MPs to attend the meeting. TDP secured 16 MP seats in Andhra Pradesh, and the NDA alliance comprising TDP, BJP, and Janasena collectively won 21 out of the 25 seats.
BJP-Led NDA Meeting Today: Here Are Top Updates
- Naidu reached New Delhi on Thursday to take part in the NDA meeting. He is expected to be here until June 9 for Modi's swearing-in ceremony, news agency PTI reported citing TDP sources.
- TDP, which has become a 'kingmaker' in the formation of the NDA government at the Centre with its 16 MPs, is likely to join the Union cabinet, a party spokesperson told PTI.
- Naidu held a meeting with MPs at his Andhra Pradesh residence on Thursday morning. More than half a dozen MPs attended the meeting. He congratulated them on their election victory and informed them that all TDP MPs were expected to arrive in the national capital by Thursday night.
- Narendra Modi is all set to take oath as prime minister of India for the third consecutive time on Sunday. He tendered his resignation on Wednesday.

- The NDA unanimously passed a resolution to elect Modi as their leader, and 21 leaders signed a letter during a key meeting held at his official residence in Delhi.
- Top leaders of Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, the Maldives, Bhutan, Nepal, Mauritius and Seychelles are likely to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Modi on June 9.
- Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will also join the meeting and will likely demand four ministerial positions and special status for the state, where the NDA won 30 out of the 40 Lok Sabha seats.
- The 2024 Lok Sabha elections was concluded on June 4, with the BJP securing 240 seats. Despite not reaching the 272-seat majority on its own, the BJP will form the government with the support of its NDA allies.
