Blinkit on Tuesday announced that it will be offering ''free dhaniya'' (coriander) to its customers while ordering veggies. Blinkit CEO Albinder Dhindsa said on Thursday, a day after a social media user, named Ankit Sawant stated that her mother was shocked to know that she had to pay for dhaniya on the quick commerce service.

The netizen stated that it is customary in traditional marketplaces to get complimentary offerings like ‘free dhaniya’ while buying vegetables. He highlighted that Blinkit, Zomato’s grocery delivery platform, delivers groceries and other items including veggies in minutes but fails to provide complimentary offerings.

"Mom got a mini heart attack because she had to pay for dhaniya on Blinkit. @albinder - Mom is suggesting that you should bundle it for free with a certain amount of veggies," Ankit Sawant wrote.

Upon being tagged in the post, Blinkit's CEO responded to the grievance by one of his customers, saying, "Will do". A day later, in a follow-up post, Dhindsa announced the implementation of the ‘free dhaniya’ offer for Blinkit customers, attributing the initiative to the user's mother.

"It's live! Everyone, please thank Ankit's mom. We will polish the feature in the next couple of weeks," Blinkit's CEO, posted on X.

The conversation between the two also gained a significant amount of social media attraction as it received 6,50,000 views and over 9,000 likes. Several netizens appreciated the move while some asked to add the ‘hari mirchi’ option as well.

One social media user said, "dhaniya ke sath mirchi bhi dal dete (add chilli along with coriander)."

"Hey! Dhaniya + Hari Mirch. Sirf dhaniya is not allowed. (Only coriander not allowed), another user said teasing the company’s decision.
