In a shocking incident, a woman's decomposed body was found inside a blue drum with her hands and legs tied. The woman's body was in a Garba attire and was found at a house in Vaishali Avenue Colony in Madhya Pradesh's Dewas.

According to a report by NDTV, she was allegedly drowned in the drum by a man because she was in a relationship with another man.

The victim has been identified as Lakshita Chaudhary (22) and was killed on Monday. The accused is a 35-year-old man named Monu, alias Manoj Chauhan. The accused himself approached the police and surrendered after committing the crime.

Lakshita's family said that she left the home on Monday, saying that she was going to college but didn't return. The family filed a missing person's report with the police, after which the searches were initiated.

She had been missing for three days before her body was found at Monu's house in Vaishali Avenue Colony.

How was body recovered?

The residents of Vaishali Avenue sensed a foul smell emanating from Monu's house, prompting panic in the neighbourhood. The police were informed immediately, who reached the site and recovered the body from the blue drum.

Monu confessed to committing the crime and told the police that he loved Lakshita. He revealed that after he came to know about Lakshita's relationship with someone else, he became angry.

He called Lakshita to his house and tied her hands and legs. Later, he put her into the blue drum filled with water. He then fled the house.

Dewas Police has said that the body was taken into custody and sent for post-mortem, while the accused is under interrogation.

Blue Drum murders

Blue drum has been involved in previous murders with relationship issues at the core. In March this year, a merchant navy officer, Suarabh Rajput was murdered by his wife, Sonam, and her lover, Sahil. The case made headlines due to the barbarity and clever attempt to decompose the body.

Similarly, in August, a man was killed by his wife and her lover at their rented house in Rajasthan's Alwar. The body was found in the blue drum by the landlady on the first floor of the house.
