BMW Hit-And-Run Case: In the BMW hit-and-run case, the prime accused, Mihir Shah, changed his appearance to evade arrest, the prosecution told a court on Wednesday. Shah was remanded to police custody until July 16 in the case. Mihir, 24, was arrested on Tuesday from Virar near Mumbai, two days after he allegedly rammed his BMW car into a two-wheeler in Mumbai's Worli area, killing Kaveri Nakhwa (45), who was riding pillion with her husband Pradeep Nakhwa. According to the police, Kaveri was dragged for 1.5 km before the accused stopped the car.

Shah, the son of Shiv Sena leader Rajesh Shah, had committed a "cruel heartless crime", and they wanted to probe who helped him when he was on the run for more than two days after the early Sunday morning accident, police told the court.

Borrowed BMW Had No Insurance, PUC

The BMW car involved in the hit-and-run incident reportedly did not belong to the prime accused, Mihir Shah. Besides, it may have flouted other critical laws and regulations, official records suggest, reports news agency PTI. According to the records, the vehicle belongs to Rajesh Vasantray Doshi, and the vehicle was bought and registered in May 2016, while the registration is valid until May 2031, implying it is not owned by the former Deputy Leader of Shiv Sena Rajesh Shah or his son Mihir R. Shah. Also, the insurance of the vehicle had expired almost two months ago.

"It is not clear whether the owner had sold or hired or lent the vehicle to the Shah family, but after the major accident with a loss of human life, all the concerned persons could possibly be booked under various laws, and we are making our enquiries," the official told IANS.

Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray demanded 'bulldozer justice' in the case. He sought to know why a bulldozer is not being run on the house of Mihir Shah as a punitive action in the case.
"The regime which believes in bulldozer justice must run bulldozer on his house. I would like to see bulldozer justice coming on to Mihir Rajesh Shah's house," said Thackeray, the MLA from Worli.

"Bulldozer justice" refers to demolition of properties of individuals accused of involvement in serious crimes using powerful motorized machines even before they are pronounced guilty by courts. Several such punitive actions against accused have been reported from BJP-ruled states like Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.
