4:15 pm: Ajit Pawar (NCP), on cooperative bank scam case: Sharad Pawar has no connection with this bank. I feel his name has been dragged just because I am his relative. Because of me, Sharad Pawar & NCP are being defamed. This is the reason I have resigned without asking him.

4:10 pm: Jammu Inspector General of police (IG) Mukesh Singh: Three terrorists have been eliminated in Batote town of Ramban district of Jammu Zone

4:05 pm: Indian Army: Operational contact established in Batote market at around 12:45 pm today. 1 house identified has been isolated where a civilian is hostage. Possibly 5 terrorists are inside. They have refused to surrender so far. Exchange of firing on.

4:00 pm: Odisha: President Ram Nath Kovind awarded the President's Colours to the Corps of Army Air Defence today at Gopalpur Military Station.

3:53 pm: MHA Sources: Under the scheme for special remission to prisoners to commemorate 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi so far 1424 prisoners have been released by states&Union Territories in 2 phases (2nd Oct 2018 & 6th April 2019). 3rd phase of release is due on 2nd Oct 2019.

3:45 pm: MHA Sources: On the occasion of 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev & as a humanitarian gesture, Government of India has taken a decision to grant a special dispensation to nine Sikh prisoners from various jails in the country. In one case, decision has been taken to commute the death sentence to life imprisonment, and in remaining eight cases, decision has been taken for premature release of prisoners serving life sentences and other sentences, through special remission

3:30 pm: Uttarakhand: Five people died and five were injured after the vehicle they were travelling in got stuck in debris following a lanslide at Teen Dhara, Devprayag, today. Injured have been admitted to hospital.

3:25 pm: UP CM Yogi Adityanath in Lucknow: I interacted with students from Jammu & Kashmir living in Noida, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad&Aligarh as a confidence-building measure. As Chief Minister, I see myself as their local guardian here & it is my responsibility to listen to them.

3:23 pm: J&K Police: A group of 5 terrorists trapped in Batote town of Ramban district of Jammu Zone. Joint parties of Police, Army&CRPF cordoned the area & exchange of fire ensues. Trapped terrorists had fired on a security team in morning and tried to escape.  After a hot chase the terrorists entered the house of a civilian in Batote town which was immediately cordoned. Senior officers on spot supervising the operation.

3:15 pm: Maharashtra: Charan Waghmare, BJP MLA from Tumsar has been arrested today for allegedly misbehaving with a woman police personnel on September 16. The case was registered on September 18.

3:07 pm: Patna: Chief Minister of Bihar, Nitish Kumar, is holding a meeting with Disaster Management officials on flood situation in the state.

3:02 pm: Shiv Sena Chief, Uddhav Thackeray on BJP-Shiv Sena alliance: We'll contest together & going to announce it soon. We have already decided on the alliance. It is just that we are working on number of seats.

3:00 pm: Delhi: Onions being sold at Rs 23.90 per kg at Safal stores by Delhi govt.

2:55 pm: A local in Batote area of Ramban, Jammu and Kashmir, says: Three people in civil dress and guns in hands went to a neighbouring house, all the members of their families came out, their father is held in the house. Army personnel just rescued us. Firing is underway.

2:35 pm: CRPF: Unknown terrorists hurled a grenade on troops& escaped, early morning today. Security forces carried out search ops&cornered terrorists in Main Market, Batote. Terrorists have taken 1 civilian as a hostage. Intermittent firing is underway. A grenade was hurled on CRPF troops in Safakadal, Srinagar, earlier today. No injury or loss of life reported. More details awaited.

2:25 pm: Dilbag Singh, DGP Jammu and Kashmir: Day time restrictions have been relaxed from all 105 police station jurisdictions in Kashmir. It has been done after improvement in situation.

2:18 pm: Northern Command, Indian Army: One terrorist killed in Ganderbal. Weapon & warlike stores recovered. Joint operation in progress.

2:12 pm: Rohan Gupta has been appointed as Chairman of Social Media Department of All India Congress Committee (AICC).

2:07 pm: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman: Payments which are pending for services rendered, goods supplied or any other work is done for government agencies and the Public Sector Units to be cleared by October 15. A drive will be conducted between now and the first week of October so that all requirements are met and payments are done before October 15.

2:03 pm: Father of Lt Col Rajneesh Parmar, who lost his life yesterday in Indian Army helicopter crash in Bhutan: This is an irreparable loss. It was his birthday yesterday, we had called him in the morning but he was busy, he just said "Thanks Papa, I will speak to you in the evening".

1:55 pm: Jammu&Kashmir: Exchange of fire underway at Batote in Ramban after 2 suspicious individuals tried to stop a civil vehicle, early morning today. Security forces have launched joint operations against terrorists in Ramban, Doda and Ganderbal areas of Jammu and Kashmir, operations are still on.
