A film and TV serial actress has reportedly been kidnapped by her estranged husband in a desperate attempt to gain custody of their daughter in Bengaluru, Karnataka. The incident was detailed in a complaint filed by Leela R, the sister of the actress, Chaitra R. According to Leela, the couple had separated following ongoing marital disputes that had lasted for approximately seven to eight months.
The actress' estranged husband, Harshvardhan, had been living in Hassan, while Chaitra had relocated to a rented accommodation on Magadi Road in Bengaluru, taking their one-year-old daughter with her.
Chaitra and Harshvardhan had married in 2023. After their separation, Chaitra continued her work as a serial actress. On December 7, she informed her family that she was travelling to Mysuru for a shoot. However, it is alleged that this was all part of a plot planned by her estranged husband.
According to a NDTV report, Harshvardhan had allegedly paid an advance of Rs 20,000 to his associate, Kaushik, to carry out the abduction. On the morning of December 7, Kaushik reportedly called Chaitra to the Mysuru Road Metro Station around 8 am. Once there, she was forcibly taken into a car and driven via NICE Road and the Bidadi route.

At approximately 10:30 am, Chaitra managed to alert a friend named Girish, who quickly informed her family about the abduction.
Later in the evening, Harshvardhan allegedly contacted Chaitra's mother, Siddamma, and admitted to the kidnapping. He then issued a chilling ultimatum: the family had to bring their child to a location he would specify, or Chaitra would not be released. Harshvardhan subsequently contacted another relative, instructing them to bring the child to Arsikere, where he promised Chaitra would be set free.
The family, who were initially scattered across Tiptur and Bengaluru, regrouped and sought assistance from the police.
A case has been filed based on the complaint from Chaitra’s sister, and the police are investigating the matter.
Harshvardhan, who is also the owner of Vardhan Enterprises and a film producer, is now facing serious charges related to the abduction.
