The outgoing state president’s tenure concluded in August last year and was given an extension until the Karnataka Assembly elections. However, no appointments were made by the saffron party following its defeat in the Assembly polls held this year in May.
In the May Assembly elections, BY Vijayendra won the Shikaripura seat in his electoral debut by a margin of 11,008 votes.
In the Karnataka Assembly elections 2023, Congress emerged victorious after winning as many as 135 seats in the 224-member Karnataka Assembly ousting the ruling BJP, which received only 66 seats in the southern state.
