BTC Election Result 2025 Live Updates: Counting of votes for the fifth general elections to the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) began on September 26 amid tight security arrangements across Assa. The elections, held on Monday, September 22, covered all 40 seats in the BTC spread across five districts - Kokrajhar, Chirang, Udalguri, Baksa, and Tamulpur, all under the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR).

Kokrajhar district alone has 12 constituencies, where 100 candidates were in the fray. Of these, 43 candidates contested from the Kokrajhar sub-division, 48 from the Gossaigaon sub-division, and one from Parbatjhora. Across the five districts, a total of 316 candidates contested this time.

The election sees a high-stakes battle between the United People's Party Liberal (UPPL), led by current BTC Chief Pramod Boro, and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which is the ruling party in Assam. BJP leaders, including Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, held a series of rallies in the region during the campaign.

    In the previous BTC elections, the BJP and the UPPL had jointly formed the Bodoland Territorial Council government.
    The Hagrama Mohilary-led Bodoland People's Party (BPF), Congress, and other regional parties also contested this election. Of the total 40 council constituencies, 30 are reserved for Scheduled Tribes (ST), five for non-STs, and the remaining five are unreserved.

    Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has held several election campaign rallies in the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) in the run-up to the elections.

    "This election will ensure a new journey in the Bodoland Territorial Region. BJP has released the Sankalp Patra for the BTC election. We will implement all schemes in the BTR region. Five lakh women of BTR will be included in the Assam Orunodoi Scheme, the Mahila Udyamita Scheme, and girl students of BTR will get benefits under the Nijut Moina Scheme. BJP will work to provide constitutional safeguards and land rights to the people of BTR," he had said as the BJP released its manifesto

    Assam BTC Election Result 2025: 30 Seats Reserved For ST Candidates

    Among the 40 seats, 30 are reserved for Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates, five for non-STs and the remaining five are open to both ST and non-ST nominees.

    Alliance partners United Peoples' Party Liberal (UPPL), BJP and Gana Suraksha Party (GSP) have headed the outgoing council.

    Early trends show the Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) leading in four constituencies Shrirampur, Dhanshri, Nonoi Serfang, and Jamduar. BJP is ahead in the Mudaibari constituency.

    Around 78.42 per cent of the total electorate of 26,58,153, comprising 13,23,536 men, 13,34,600 women and 17 people of the third gender, had cast their votes at 3,359 polling stations.

    After first round of voting, UPPL was in lead in Salaikati seat. In the last council polls held in December 2020, the UPPL had won 12 seats, BJP nine and GSP one seat, while the Bodoland Peoples' Front (BPF), which had headed the council for the previous three terms, emerged as the single-largest party, bagging 17 seats, and Congress secured one seat with its elected member later joining the BJP.
