Bypolls 2024 LIVE: Voting is currently underway in the by-elections for 31 Assembly seats across 10 states, as well as the Wayanad Lok Sabha constituency in Kerala, where Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is making her electoral debut. The polling started at 7 am and will continue until 6 pm.
The states which are going to polls today are Rajasthan, Assam, West Bengal, Bihar, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Kerala, and Meghalaya. The votes will be counted on November 23.
The bypoll in Wayanad has garnered significant attention following Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's decision to vacate the seat, which he had held since 2019. This move came after his success in the 2024 general elections, where he retained the Raebareli seat in Uttar Pradesh.
Following this, Congress announced that Rahul would vacate Wayanad to pave the way for his sister, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, to contest in the bypoll. Priyanka now faces stiff competition from 15 other candidates, including Sathyan Mokeri of the Left Democratic Front (LDF) and Navya Haridas of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
